The office of the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh Region, Bhopal has invited online application for the recruitment of 7 Canteen Attendant posts. under the Non-Statutory Departmental Canteens. The selected candidates will be appointed to a Group ‘C’, Non-Gazetted and Non-Ministerial post with Pay Level 1 (Rs. 18,000 to Rs. 56,900). Income Tax Department Canteen Attendant Salary 2026 

The Income Tax Canteen Attendant post carries Pay Level 1 of the 7th Central Pay Commission, with a pay scale of Rs. 18,000 to Rs. 56,900. The starting basic pay is Rs. 18,000, while the actual monthly salary will depend on applicable allowances and deductions. The selected candidates will be appointed to a Central Government Group ‘C’ post and will also be placed on probation for two years or for such period as applicable under Government of India instructions. 

Income Tax Department Canteen Attendant Eligibility Criteria 2026 

Candidates interested in applying for the Income Tax Canteen Attendant post should carefully check the prescribed eligibility conditions before submitting the application. The recruitment is open only to Indian citizens. 

Educational Qualification 

  • Candidates must have passed Matriculation (10th Standard) or an equivalent examination from a recognized Board on or before the closing date of the application.

The selection process for Income Tax Canteen Attendant recruitment is not based solely on the written examination. Initially, eligible applications will be scrutinized and candidates will be shortlisted according to their marks in the Matriculation examination. The recruitment process consists of the following major stages:

Income Tax Canteen Attendant Written Examination 2026 

Candidates shortlisted after the Class 10-based screening will be called for an objective-type written examination. The written examination will contain 40 multiple-choice questions carrying 1 mark each. The normal examination duration is 30 minutes, while eligible candidates using a scribe will receive 40 minutes.

Written Examination Centre 

  • An important point for applicants is that the written examination will be conducted only in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
  • The department has specifically stated that the examination will not be conducted at another location in India and requests for a change of examination venue will not be entertained.
  • Candidates shortlisted for the examination will also not be entitled to any Travelling Allowance for appearing in the written examination. 

Income Tax Canteen Attendant Skill Test 2026 

After the written examination, 70 candidates, equivalent to 10 candidates against each vacancy, will be shortlisted for the next stage based on their written examination performance. The next stage is the Skill Test, which will be conducted only at Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. The Skill Test will carry 60 marks and will assess practical proficiency relevant to the duties of a Canteen Attendant. The test is intended to examine areas such as:

  • Preparation of beverages
  • Basic food handling
  • Food preparation techniques
  • Presentation
  • Hygiene
  • Cleanliness
  • Practical ability related to canteen duties


Income Tax Department Canteen Attendant 2026 Final Merit List

  • The final merit list will be prepared by combining the candidate's performance in the written examination and Skill Test.
  • The written examination carries 40 marks and the Skill Test carries 60 marks, making the final assessment 100 marks in total.
  • A total of 7 candidates will ultimately be selected according to merit and the available category-wise vacancies.
  • A waiting list will also be maintained. If a selected candidate does not join, declines the appointment or is subsequently found ineligible, the next eligible candidate in order of merit may be considered for appointment, subject to the applicable rules. 

Documents Required 

Candidates should keep the required documents ready before completing the online application. The notification specifies the following documents:

  • Matriculation/10th Standard certificate
  • SC/ST/OBC/EWS certificate, wherever applicable

Duties of Income Tax Canteen Attendant 

The Canteen Attendant will perform practical canteen and support-related duties within the departmental canteen. The responsibilities mentioned in the notification include preparation and serving of refreshments, maintaining cleanliness and assisting during official meetings. 

Major duties include:

  • Preparing tea, coffee, juice and similar beverages
  • Serving tea, coffee, biscuits and other refreshments during official meetings
  • Providing regular room service to officers and staff
  • Collecting used cups, plates and utensils after official meetings
  • Cleaning crockery, cutlery and utensils
  • Sweeping and washing the canteen floor
  • Cleaning and dusting tables, chairs and other furniture
  • Cleaning slabs and areas where food is prepared
  • Performing other duties assigned by the Canteen In-charge
